BioMotion Tracker — Drosophila Larval Movement

Research & Academic · v

BioMotion Tracker supports semi-automatic movement analysis of a single selected region in Drosophila larval videos. Open a browser-compatible local video, calibrate a known distance in the same image plane, set the correct frame rate and analysis interval, and place an anchor on a contrasting target. Template matching follows the target through sampled frames. Review the trajectory and manually correct tracked points before exporting CSV data. Measurements include path length, net displacement, mean and maximum speed, and straightness. Video processing runs locally in your browser. Tracking quality depends on contrast, motion, occlusion, recording quality and settings. The confidence score measures template similarity; it is not a calibrated probability. Synthetic-motion checks verify basic calculations and export behavior; accuracy on your biological recordings must be checked manually.

FAQs

How do I obtain reliable measurements?

Open a compatible video, calibrate a known distance in the recording plane, enter the actual recording FPS, choose the analysis interval, and anchor a clearly contrasting target at its start. Review every trajectory and correct mismatches. The tracker follows one selected region; occlusion, low contrast or large jumps can cause drift. Validate results on your recordings.
